Facts and Questions

  • What is Student Council's purpose? 

    • It is to have a representative of the student body to help make decisions and support the school and class. 
       

      

    What do we do in student council? 

    •  We support the students and our school as a selective small group of the student body. We may do various things from making signs, to cleaning the school, to organizing fund raisers to making decisions that will impact the school. 

     
    Will everyone that applies get into Student Council? 
     

    • No, you will have teacher recommendations before being invited to Student Council. 
       

      

    When will meetings take place (or will they meet during club day) ? 
     

    •  It will happen after school from 3:30 - 4:30. Specific dates are as follows:  
      • August 29 (if all student forms have been completed)  
      • September 26 * 
      • October 17 * 
      • November 13 
      • December 11  
      •  January 16 
      •  February 13 * 
      •  March 19 
      •  April 16 
      •  May 28 
        • * These months may contain additional meeting due to large events 
           

      

    Will we ever meet during the school day? 
     

    • We will only meet during the school day if we are helping at an in-school event (pep rally, Cougar Carnival clean-up). 
       

      

    What if I miss a student council meeting?  
     

    •  *After missing two meetings, you will be placed on probation. After missing one more meeting, you will no longer be a member of Student Council.  
       

      

    Will I need to get any outside community service hours? 
     

    • No, we get many community service hours (as a group) around the school during special events by cleaning or by beautifying the school.
