What We Will Be Learning During the School Year:

  • Number Systems
  • Expressions and Equations
  • Ratios and Proportionality
  • Geometry
  • Statistics and Probability
What To Do:
  • If you finish an assignment early: quietly work on something else for my class, an enrichment activity, (iReady, Prodigy, etc.), or you may work on assignments for other classes with my permission.
  • If you need my help or have a question: Raise your hand and quietly wait for me to come to you. I may be helping another student, but know I see you and I will get to you!
  • If you need a brain break: sometimes we need to take a moment to get our focus back. If you need to stretch or take that moment, please raise your hand, and ask permission.  This does NOT mean you can walk around the room.
  • If you need to throw away/get something from a station: Raise your hand and ask permission to move around the classroom. Please do not just get up and walk around the room.
  • If you’re absent: All our assignments are in Schoology. You can access this via my Clever page.  Most of our activities are done in class.  Please come to me when you get back to school for clarification on any homework assignments you might have missed.

Types of Interactions:

  • Bell Work: We will have quick math problems to do every day. This is bell work.  There will typically be three review questions.  Every Friday, I will be doing a notebook check for the week to make sure you have completed all your bell work.  If you are absent any day, write absent in your composition notebook.
  • Group work: We will often work in groups to prepare you for collaboration in the workplace. Sometimes you will work with a partner and sometimes with a group of three or four. You will also work in project groups. Most of the time, I will assign you to groups, but I will also give you opportunities to choose your group members.
  • Data Chats: This is when I have one on one conversations with students regarding their growth in our class. This is a time when you will be expected to work quietly, consistently, and without disturbing others. Since I will be meeting with individual students during this time, write down your questions to ask me later.
  • Test Days: During test days, you are to stay quiet and complete your test in the given amount of time. As soon as you are done with your test, make sure you come up to my desk and turn in your test and have bubbled in your answers.
  • Retake Policy: Any student can retake or redo a test within 5 calendar days of the original test return date. The higher grade will go in the gradebook.

Classroom Expectations

Expectations will be a collaborative assignment to be completed by the students and teacher.  We will create these together and then come up with our expectations for all Ms. Takacs’s classes.
