What is Choir at CHMS?

CHMS Choir students will participate in a choir class during the school day with their grade level peers. This means that students may participate in choir as well as after school extracurriculars! In addition to our winter and spring concerts, students will also have the opportunity to participate in:

Coffee House: A performance based fundraiser where students run the show! Students host and MC the evening concert, select their own songs to perform, and facilitate the evening as members of our Stage Crew, Ushers, Greeters or Concessions helpers!
Advanced Chorale: An auditioned after school group for students who just can't get enough choir! Members of this group perform more advanced arrangements, and even have the opportunity to arrange performance pieces themselves! Advanced Chorale meets Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.
CPA: An acronym for Choral Performance Assessment, this event is sponsored by the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association and takes place each February. Students will work as an ensemble to learn and develop repertoire to perform for a panel of choral experts and will receive feedback to help us grow as a group. In addition, students will also get to view performances of other schools in the region to see how much wonderful music is being made across the mid-state.
MTVA and RCS Honor Choirs: Students will have the opportunity to audition for and participate in honor choirs hosted both by the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association and the Rutherford County Schools Fine Arts Department. These are premiere ensemble comprised of the most dedicated and hard working students from across the region. Students who are accepted into these ensembles will get to participate in field trips where they attend rehearsals, meet choristers from other schools and cities, grow as musicians, and put on spectacular choral performances!

1:24- 2:10- 7th Period: 7th Grade General Music

2:14- 3:00- 8th Period: 7th Grade Choir

I am a graduate of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. I am a vocalist and a violinist with a deep love for all kinds of music!

I am delighted to be back at CHMS for another year!

Aside from music I also love science (especially learning about space!) movies, art, and theater!
