Band is not just a class you take. Band is a part of your life!

Welcome to the Christiana MS Band, where we assist students in their intellectual, emotional, and relational development. We hope that being in band will be a source of enrichment for your student, and that the life lessons of hard work and dedication from learning how to play a musical instrument will be their start of a lifelong appreciation of music.

Here are the different bands we offer at Christiana Middle.

2025-2026 6th& 7th Grade Beginning Band

Band is open for any student that is interested in trying something new. NO previous experience or knowledge about music is needed. You don't need "talent" or "ability," just a willingness to try hard! Band is a class that meets during the school day, so you are free to participate in all after-school sports and clubs (we have had band students participate in every sport and club that Christiana has to offer).

We can't stress this enough: Band is for everyone! YOUR DESIRE TO LEARN IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR TALENT.

In Band, we study music using the following instrument families: Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion.

Woodwinds: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Bassoon

Brass: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium (or Baritone), Tuba

Percussion: Snare Drum, Mallet Keyboards, Timpani, Cymbals, Etc. (Percussion students learn all the instruments in the percussion section.)

We will have a fitting process in the first few weeks of school so students can find the instrument that best "fits" them. "The instrument chooses the player."
