Rutherford County Schools
Congratulations to Christiana Middle’s Brandon Deal on being named Rutherford County Schools’ Middle Level Teacher of the Year!
Deal has been with Rutherford County Schools for 21 years. He currently teaches seventh grade social studies at Christiana Middle.
In addition to Christiana, Deal has also served at Rockvale High and Siegel Middle. Deal earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from MTSU. In 2020, Deal was named the Siegel Middle School Teacher of the Year, as well as district-level Teacher of the Year.
As the RCS district-level winner, Deal will compete at the regional level for the state Department of Education’s annual award. To qualify for Tennessee Teacher of the Year, candidates must have been teaching full-time for at least three years, have a track record of exceptional gains in student learning, and be effective school and community leaders according to the state's criteria. Districts are able to nominate one educator from each grade band (K-5, 6-8, and 9-12).
